Preventive Dental Care

Great smile, healthy teeth! Our first priority is your overall dental health. You may need only a scheduled cleaning and an exam ... or you might require an implant or a root canal.

Either way, we will provide you with the best and most conservative treatment available. Early detection and intervention are the keys to preserving what we have for as long as we’ve got, so you can feel confident your smile will be healthy and look great!

Teeth Cleaning

The foundation of sound dental care is routine cleaning and maintenance. We customize cleanings on the basis of your periodontal (gums and bone) health. We utilize medicated gels along with prescription mouth rinses in problem areas, if necessary.

Ultrasonic scalers are sometimes used to make the procedure more comfortable and effective as well. We use a high-tech polishing brightener to remove extrinsic stains and dental plaque, while simultaneously polishing tooth surfaces. Regular dental checkups and X-rays help us help you stay healthy!

VelscopeOral Cancer Screenings / Velscope

We emphasize that all patients receive oral cancer screenings with the Velscope. Early-stage diagnosis can save a patient’s life.

Fluoride

Children and adults at high risk of dental decay may benefit from using additional fluoride products, such as dietary supplements (for children who do not have adequate levels of fluoride in their drinking water), mouth rinses, and professionally applied gels and varnishes.

Sealants

Sealants can be used as part of a child’s total preventive dental care. Dental sealants are thin plastic coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the molars (back teeth). Most tooth decay in children and teens occurs in these surfaces.

Sealants cover the chewing surfaces to preserve healthy tooth structure. One sealant application can last for as long as 5 to 10 years. Sealants should be checked regularly, and reapplied if they are no longer in place.
