Lorin, you know I love it when things become common knowledge.
It took a long time.
You can imagine with all three of my parents suffering a horrid death with Alzheimer's and dementia how grateful I am you not only took out my mercury BUT you even used the dental dam. I have met so many people that had it removed and a dam was not used.
The amount of continued detoxification etc. is still amazing when I get tested and I am so relieved I did it when I was young.

Thirty years with Dr. Berland
I've been a patient of Dr. Lorin Berland since 1980 and have relied on his expert dental care for every tooth issue; cleanings, inlays, crowns, consulting for braces as an adult. My daughters have also been his patients since they were little girls and are now grown: same reliability for cleanings, fillings cosmetic procedure and braces for one of them. Arts District Dentistry is so convenient to my work, so I usually schedule an appointment before a rehearsal at the Meyerson. He also has great compassion for physically challenged patients when I brought a neighbor and his Guide Dog for an appointment. There was no problem in having the dog at the foot of the chair during the appointment Dr. B's the best!

When I first found Dr. Berland many years ago, I had already had consultations with 4 other top dentists in Dallas, who were very good. An Orthodontist in my Salon Clientele told me not to do 'anything' until I at least ran it by Dr. Berland. So I did.
I have been glad many times over these years as every once and a while something happens. I had all my Mercury removed before that was a popular request. Luckily for me Dr. Berland is so professional he used a dental damn to keep the Mercury from being ingested. The next 5-10 years in the United States, were filled with horror stories from patients whose dentist did not professionally take this precaution.
When my front teeth were shattered from hitting the steering wheel when I was rear ended at a stop light, Dr. Berland placed two veneers on them to keep them from crumbling. No one could believe they were Veneers; they matched my other teeth perfectly.
Since I was raised in Oklahoma I received a lot of Chlorine in the water and Anti-biotics that were later found in certain strengths to discolor children's teeth. An over all yellow color and greenish-grey line that was 1/2 way up from the gums is what I had.
Though teeth bleaching was in its early stages, there was no product that safely protected the gums available, so using an early method, Dr. Berland bleached my teeth before he made the Veneers! He felt even a small improvement would be easier to match with a more normal color of teeth, than the variations I had.
He wished he had taken before and after pictures because they lightened so well! The beautiful Veneers he made were dimensional in color and I found myself smiling more than I ever had before, since my mouth looked so healthy!
Dr. Berland is committed to the health and integrity of my teeth. Though he specializes helping people cosmetically, his first commitment is to the health and longevity of the process. I always recommend Dr. Berland as it is great comfort to have a dentist that actually cares about how dentistry effects your entire health; not just how you look.

The Dreaded Dentist
As much as I dislike the dentist (having nothing to do with Dallas Dental Arts ), I have to say this is the most comfortable that I have ever been going to the dentist. The staff is prompt, understanding of my needs, and very efficient. I can actually come every 3 months without all of the anxiety that I used to suffer. I have recommended and will continue to recommend Dallas Dental Arts . Well done!

We are definitely getting there! My gums look great.
I have had consults with 2 other "cosmetic dentists", as well as with my dentist (a personal friend) that does veneers. They all talked about complete veneers to perfect my smile. I have never been able to go for it because it never felt right. No one has ever suggested altering my gum line. After my consultation with you, I am really, really surprised about this. When I saw the digital pictures and you talked about the gums, it all clicked. I didn't want a "Miss America" smile, I just wanted an improved "Doni smile". I felt you and Dr. Mark understood exactly what I wanted.
I have never been a spur of the moment person, but after your suggestions, and the trust factor I felt with you and Mark, (and having Bonita there didn't hurt!) it felt perfectly normal to say "Can we do it today?".
The results 4 days post-op are already almost exactly what I wanted, I can't wait to see the results after the bleaching & bonding.

For as long as I can remember, I have been self-conscious about my smile. Now I am out of college and have my first professional job, and would be able to take out a loan to pay for this procedure. It will probably take me a few years to pay it back, but to me it is definitely worth it.

I really like your conservative approach and your advice for new dentist. Your first obligation is to do no harm. The least amount of treatment that yields the desired outcome is the best amount of treatment. You can always do more, but you can't put back what you've already taken away. I have been a patient of Dr. Berland for over 20 years. I have NEVER had a negative experience or anything that comes close to a negative experience. I believe a significant part of the reason I return is the warmth and general caring of the staff along with the casual but professional demeanor of Dr. Berland. I office way up north and had decided since I just needed a cleaning, I would try another dental facility nearby. That did it for me. I waited a full hour only to be told that the hygentist was still out to lunch and I would only be getting an exam today. It was also indicated to me, before I even had an exam, I would most likely need "deep cleanings", etc.(translation-more expense) THIS is why I recommend Dr. Berland and his staff. He is very conservative about the work he suggests. I have heard him say to me "if it doesn't bother us/you, we won't bother it". I am quite aware that MOST dental facilities will claim alot of work is needed than actually is. I also have friends who have been patients at these places and they have come away with actually damage from the routine cleanings, etc. As I am on the subject, I must mention the CLEANING. You will not receive a better cleaning anywhere, the process is gentle but thorough. They do an amazing high-powered baking soda treatement and follow with the traditional polishing. Of course, the "scraping, etc." is completed in the beginning, again, gentle but thorough. They have the top of the line and the latest in Dental equipment and technology which eases the patients discomfort, such as the digital x-rays. I trust Dr. Berland and his skill and I believe it ALL comes down to that one fact, the rest are all "PERKS, including the fantastic lavendar scented neck warmer!! I learned that "relaxation in a Dentist's office can be done"...what an epiphany!!

I never thought going to the dentist could be considered a pleasant experience. However, Dr. Beland and his staff make you feel so comfortable. They are professional, friendly and confident and make me feel like I am the only one they are taking care of! I can't imagine going anywhere else. I am spoiled!!!!

I love Dallas Dental Arts. Every experience I have had has been great and I have serious anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist. The staff and Dr. Berland are always very friendly and accommodating. Dr. Berland is very good at what he does and I would never go anywhere else.

I really like Dr. Kong. Christian mentioned last night that she has not been to the dentist in 3 years so I am going to refer her to Dr. Kong. I am also going to mention her to Denise and Randy because Denise was asking me for an adult dentist referral.
I just felt like she was genuine and very thorough and checked it all out and looked at it from all angles. For something that is a nothing and for something that hurts so bad she really did a fantastic job!!! I really left there feeling better and grateful that she took the time to help me out. She is extremely nice, friendly, smiley, upbeat and I think Dr. B landed a great asset to his business this time!!! WHA HOO!!!

Tooth is great. Looks like the lucency is improving, and there hasn't been any noticeable sensitivity. I've been careful about drinking hot coffee (used a straw), but ice water didn't cause any problems. I've also quickly gotten used to the feeling of the bond. I think that it might be about 1 mm too long, because it feels lopsided when I bite incisor to incisor. That is just me being a perfectionist, overall the tooth is great.
The service from your office was perfect, I couldn't have asked for more. Losing that much of my front tooth had a surprising effect on my overall psychological well-being, and I'm extremely grateful for the way that everyone in your office handled the matter. I look forward to seeing you guys again in two weeks.
As an aside, I had training for our new electronic medical system at Parkland this morning. We had to practice inputting a fake patient's medical history/physical exam, drugs, etc. Guess what the fake patient had? Pneumonia from anaerobic bacteria and an unspecified oral hygiene issue.

I am writing to thank you for your recommendation of Dr. Berland, in Dallas, for my deep bleaching. As you recall, we emailed back in February about my tetracycline stains. I started treatment almost immediately after your email, and have since had 3 laser treatments. Because my teeth were so gray, it was suggested that I use the 'AquaBrite' System for one hour during the day, and use your 'EVOLVE' system each evening. Being extremely motivated, I had no trouble adhering to this regimen.
My experience with Dr. Berland's office was completely positive. Everyone I worked with - Dusty, Romika, Bonita and both Dr.s- were pleasant, professional and caring. I really appreciate the fine service their office provided. You can continue to feel confident as you recommend them.
My husband describes the change as dramatic. Bonita will be sending me 'Before and After' snapshots. Would you be interested in seeing them?

The tooth feels great and have no problems at all, had a little tenderness in a way the first day but that was it and now I have a great new chopper and it looks great and feels great. Thank you for taking such good care of me and keeping track of me.
